About the event
Adewale Mayowa Emmanuel (born 23rd March 1994) is a Nigerian born rising star. From his 2016 debut single – ‘Eleko’ (which was released under Davido Music Worldwide and charted #1 in Nigeria) to his 2017 smash ‘Mama’ (enjoying multiple weeks at the top of streaming charts across the African Continent) & other hits like ‘Che Che’, ‘Bobo’ featuring Davido, ‘Up To Something’, ‘Geng’ and ‘Of Lagos’, Mayorkun has emerged as one of the most consistent artists from Nigeria in recent times.
His debut album ‘The Mayor of Lagos’ peaked at #15 on the Billboard World Albums Chart and has amassed over 200 million streams to date. He was a surprise guest during Davido’s Wireless Festival set in 2018 & also performed at the O2 Arena in London in 2019 before proceeding to sell out his first headline concert in the UK & Canada months later.
Tipped as Nigeria’s Artist of the Year in 2020 with back-to-back consecutive #1 singles & collaborations, Mayorkun is set to release his sophomore LP in 2021.
His album ‘Back In Office’, which featured smash single ‘Holy Father’, has amassed over 100M streams globally, spending the maximum 13 weeks on the Official Afrobeats UK Chart & also made it’s debut on the Billboard Afrobeats Chart in April 2022.
